Henry Farrell kommentiert den Kommentar eines inoffiziellen deutschen Wahlbeobachters zum irischen EU-Referendum:

"German parliamentarian Axel Schäfer’s comment that 'With all respect for the Irish vote, we cannot allow the huge majority of Europe to be duped by a minority of a minority of a minority', would have a bit more credibility if, you know, the majority of the majority of the majority had been given a chance to vote on the Treaty themselves".

Im nächsten Anlauf könnte es die EU ja mal mit einer Verordnung versuchen. In Artikel 249 Abs. 2 des EG Vertrags steht nämlich:

"Die Verordnung hat allgemeine Geltung. Sie ist in allen ihren Teilen verbindlich und gilt unmittelbar in jedem Mitgliedstaat."
